Three years on from October 7th, many still believe it to be the key starting point of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The conflict has a history that is more than a century old. Stephen Heiner, curator of Palestine Bookshelf, acted on his personal curiosity of the Holy Land in the summer prior to October 7th. He visited many countries in the Middle East as well as Palestine, interviewed people outside the Erez Crossing at Gaza, in the West Bank and in Jerusalem. He has been researching the origins of the conflict, reading books and reports and watching dozens of films. He joins us at ETG as a curious human walking the planet: as a spiritual person, as one who cares deeply for all humans’ rights and how we are influenced by what we read, what we see and how that effects our beliefs. He shares what his research has uncovered about what is at the heart of the conflict, invites Q&A and opens a dialogue, encouraging people to explore resources themselves.
Palestinian poets will be reciting through the course of the evening.
