OUR ORIGINAL MEDICINE: USING ANCIENT HERBAL REMEDIES IN A MODERN WORLD

  Herbalist RICHARD MANDELBAUM, has a background in both Chinese and Western herbal traditions. He has been an avid student of our native flora for over nineteen years, and in addition to teaching on a diverse range of clinical subjects, he often leads workshops on field botany, wild edible plants and mushrooms. He is a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG).

His Dragonfly Botanicals is a small organic garden dedicated to the natural, organic production of medicinal plants, and situated on the grounds of the Center for Creative Therapies and the Arts in Forestburgh, NY.

Come and experiment with SHADOWS!
    We are going to be cutting shapes out of paper, colored plastic, and using other objects and shapes including our hands to make fun characters come to life on the illuminated puppet screen!
   This will be the last in our current series of free puppet-making and fun story improvisations with BOBALOO, ALYCIA and TRACY BASEY, so please try to come! Crafts and materials will be provided. Have some creative fun at ETG!

POETS Jen Russo and Elena Capofari for this fundraiser, organized by several young Staten Islanders, to draw attention to the plight of poor farmers in India and the amazing relief efforts organized by Amma (aka The Hugging Saint).
    All procedes will be sent to The Farmer Relief Project.  The evening will include delicious Indian-style refreshments, live music, video collage and a slide show of photos taken while on the road with Amma in India this year. Suggested donation of $5.00 to $20.00.

TRIP TO INDIA with MICHAEL BRAUDY
Violinist Braudy just returned from a performance tour in India and wants to share his experiences with us in photographs, stories, meditation and live music.

Michael Braudy is an experienced violinist in Western, North Indian and Celtic music, and has taught music and meditation for over 30 years.  A versatile improviser, he regularly collaborates with poets, storytellers, dancers, theatre and mime.  From a deep commitment to music as a tool for meditation and health, Michael gives workshops and performances in the United States and abroad.  In India, he recently played in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Auroville, and has performed at the Jaipur International Festival in Rajasthan.  His recordings include Sumanas, Vriddhi and Awakening Peace, a series of ragas for health, and Celtic Afternoon, a live concert at Sufi Books in Manhattan.  For more information, go to www.michaelbraudy.com.
